It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Roy Ward.
Roy passed away after a brief illness, at the age of 94 year, in The Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow on the 13th August 2024.
He started his career in the Post Office (GPO) as a Boy Messenger in 1945 at the Ware Post Office and moved around various parts of the UK within his life.

He and his wife Mary (deceased February 2019) spent their retirement travelling far and wide and until May 2023 Roy had lived at home in Bishop’s Stortford.
He had a fall and never really got his mobility and independence back so moved to Mountfitchet House in Stansted where he was well cared for.

Roy never lost his sense of humour and lovely smile which will be missed by all his close family and friends alike.
There will be a Service of Thanksgiving for Roy’s life on Wednesday 4th September at 3pm to be held at Great St Mary’s Church, Sawbridgeworth, CM21 9AH for anyone wishing to attend.
